Project Fund

This fund was created in 2003 to provide one-time assistance to registered Canadian agencies operating in the region served by Renfrew County United Way to address new and emerging health and social needs with no commitment for long-term funding. Applications should be submitted to Renfrew County United Way on an approved form.
 
Some examples of how the United Way has supported the health and social needs of communities in its region through the Project Fund are:
 
United Way / Carefor Health & Community Services Partnership
$25,000 in Project funding to make two Ministry of Health/Champlain LHIN-donated vans wheelchair accessible. The vans will alleviate hospital wait times and provide ambulatory seniors in Renfrew County with non-urgent transportation to medical appointments – 2009 May.
 
United Way / Renfrew County Child Poverty Action Network (CPAN) Partnership
$15,000 in Project funding to better understand and promote the issue of social inclusion (sense of belonging) among children, youth and families living in Renfrew County for reasons of poverty, race, disability, creed etc.
 
United Way / Petawawa Centennial Family Health Centre Partnership
$14,000 Project start-up funding to enable the centre to successfully apply for Ministry of Health designation as a family health centre and subsequent provincial funding.
 
United Way / Community Living Upper Ottawa Valley Partnership
$10,000 in Project funding to assist in providing new homes for adults with intellectual disabilities who are dependent on care and housing from senior families.
 
United Way / Victorian Order of Nurses Partnership
$15,225 in Project funding to launch a Frozen Meals on Wheels program in Renfrew County to benefit shut-in seniors.
 
United Way / Renfrew County Child Poverty Action Network Partnership
$5,000 in Project funding to assist with the Backpack Plus program that aims to provide over 1600 children with schools supplies during the 2010-11 fiscal year.
 
United Way / Bonnechere Valley Youth Activity Centre Partnership
$10,000 in Project Funding to assist the Centre in offering an expanded after-school program for youth and underserved youth in rural areas of the township.
 
United Way / Community Resource Centre (Killaloe) Inc. Partnership
$15,000 in Project funding to complete a database on human services in Renfrew County and provide management services in preparation for the launch of the 2-1-1 system in 2011.
